Final Music Magazine Covers

Wednesday 19 December 2018

Statement Of Intent

For my brief I am to create a front cover and double page spread of my music magazine, of any music genre of our choice. My magazine will be targeted around 14-18 year olds who love or are interested in R&B Pop.  The production of this project is how we can use media language and how we can get a point across to the target audience. To use media language I would need to look at the costumes the model can wear, props, lighting and positioning of the model. In my front cover I will show cover lines that are really in depth and will also show more information about it on the double page spread. It will also have a masthead, strap line and a bar-code. The masthead I’ve been thinking of for the front cover is ‘Beyond’ because I thought it would really link to the style of R&B Pop, where it would show the audience to look more further to the side that R&B POP and that there is more to it. With the masthead I would need a model wearing a specific type of clothing showing the genre of my magazine, with this it would also give clues to the reader of what genre my magazine is along side with certain cover lines. The model will also wear an accessory and will be behind or under the masthead; the model will be looking straight towards the camera, showing the angle of gaze.

I will also be gathering different camera shots for both of my products and would be choosing what one would work best for the covers. For the magazine front cover I was thinking of using a medium shot or a close up and will also produce some fonts to match the genre. The colour schemes I might be using is somewhere between a very light grey and maybe a pink colour white and black. To be creating my the music front cover and double page spread I will be editing it all on Photoshop.

Reader Profile 1

This is Violet who is 17 years old from East London. At college she studies A-levels which are art, music and history. The reason why she chooses history was because she finds it interesting and thinks it's important to know at the past events and how it affects life now.
She picks the other to creative subjects because they are the things she can really enjoy and put 100% into. In her free time, she enjoys drawing whilst listening to music to help her calm down, she always like watching movies and being in her room. The type of music genre she listens to is mostly R&B/pop listening, to her 2 favourite female artist BeyoncĂ© and Selena Gomez

Violet follows all her artist on Instagram and twitter, liking most of their recent photos, as she is always up to date anyway with latest music magazines that she grown more to like.  Luckily for her she has her push notifications turned on all social media platforms,
where she can receive latest songs from her artist immediately and her R&B music/pop related news. She mostly attends concerts on the weekend and makes posters and zines about the genre of music for the youth of today in her school.

Where she has also set up her own "Media Finder" clubs with already over 60 people attending. Growing up in London she has found genre of R&B/pop music really inspiring and moving.

Introduction to NEA Brief

This year in year 11 media, I am constructed to produce a front cover and double page spread of a music magazine. Where I'm supposed to plan and gather research of how I want my magazine to look and what it should include. I would be needing to look at examples of proper music magazine front covers and double page spreads, to get an idea of what a music magazine should look like and how I can make it unique and also hearing opinions from a target audience. As this would help me to show what they would prefer or normally would like to see on a music magazine, as they are the viewers to music magazines in which it has show what appeals to them about a magazine. While all through my planning and research it would show that I have a much more clearer perspective of how I want my final music magazine to look and how to lay it out properly.  Within all of this it would have shown that I have collected data from a real target audience and have given evidence all towards it throughout my work.

During my brief I am really looking forward to the test shots and the actual making of the music magazine, to where I can experiment on photoshop. Using different fonts and adjusting the lighting on persift parts on the magazine or models and also on the connotations of why I produced my music magazine a certain ways and the the links within it. I'm also looking forward to just really challenging and exploring my thoughts and ideas for my work and just really having fun with the project and being very creative with it.What I hope to improve from my year 10 prelim is to become more organized with my posts and and wanting to improve of the audience research where I'm wanting to explain to of what I was conducting and really using some of the data within my work, so taking it into consideration to show that I am really analysing it a bit more. I've also want to improve on the ways I present my blog posts so choosing different styles and by making it a bit more interesting like by making small clips, using prezi etc.
